The company agreed to pay over USD 300 million in penalties.
The DEJF alleges that Stellantis NV (the successor entity formed from FCA and PSA) used materially similar defeat-device strategies in diesel vehicles sold in Europe under the Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep brands, including a ‘dosing strategy’ affecting AdBlue injection and emissions control system behaviour outside type-approval test conditions.
The foundation filed a writ at the Amsterdam District Court in December 2021. Stellantis has challenged the court’s jurisdiction; the foundation responded in the first half of 2025 and a ruling is expected in 2026.
